Sick Boy (2018)
The Chainsmokers
The Chainsmokers came together in 2012 as a DJ and production duo. Originally made up of Alex Paul and Rhett Bixler, the duo quickly re-formed with Andrew Taggart replacing Bixler, who departed the group shortly after it began. Working with an EDM-influenced sound that incorporated elements of pop, indie and hip-hop, the duo released first single “Erase” in 2012. Their first live performance followed two years later, along with international breakthrough single “#Selfie.” After experiencing further success with several more singles, they released first full-length album, Memories…Do Not Open, in 2017, debuting at number one on the US Billboard chart.
The Chainsmokers’ second studio album, Sick Boy, was released in December 2018. The 10-song album consists of all singles released by the duo throughout the year and features a wide variety of collaborators, including country-pop star Kelsea Ballerini, singer/songwriter Emily Warren and DJs Aazar and NGHTMRE. Sick Boy received fairly positive reviews, with many critics praising the duo for branching out from their EDM background and believing it to be an improvement from their prior full-length release.
